1969 Subsidies introduced for the products 245t, the problem with dioxins had become apparent within DOW and the product 245t was withdrawn from the home gardening market and did not tell the public why.

1970 Letter to NZ Government Agriculture Board which shows they conspired with the Government of the time to keep the reasons why 245t had been withdrawn from the domestic market from the publics knowledge. In essence a closed door deal to protect the farming agriculture herbiceide market sales and use

Mid 60's DOW knew the toxic nature of 245t and its by product dioxin. They knew its ability to produce Chloracne and systemic injuries yet choose to keep it from the public.

DOW knew it was Mutagenic and Teratogenic, however DOw argued that if manufactured with dioxins kept below a certian level it was safe.

DOW claimed by this that there was "A Safe Level" for dioxins. And stated a 1ppm level was safe and they manufactured their product to that "SAFE" level.

Internal memo within DOW showed DOW was buying a German Formulas to get the dioxin levels down below 10ppm " A LONG WAY OFF 1ppm"

DOW Chief Chemist in NZ Arnold Wratislav wrote a letter and said the mix was " 2ppm up to 20ppm.

How did DOW's official tables come up with 1ppm. that figure was purely false JUST NOT TRUE.

1971 DOW writes to NZ Director of Health claiming the product was 1ppm and also stating dioxins are mutagenic.

1971 USA banned the use of the product 245t as they knew the prouduct was MUTAGENIC and TERATOGENIC. And the NZ Government knew this yet in NZ the Government gave the product a heafty 50% subsidy and sales boomed in New Zealnad for the Farming sector.

By 1972 the problems of 245t generated a need to investigate its effects the NZ Agriculture Board carried out the investigation and stated it found NO LINK to Birth Defects and 245t and then recommended a 10 fold reduction in the dioxin levels of the product 245t now bench marking the SAFE LEVEL of dioxin at 0.1ppm

1.0 SAFE now comes 0.1 SAFE

1977 a TV programme is aired regarding the dangers of 245t and in response the NZ Government forms a committee a letter 5th May 1977 shows clearly what the agenda of this committee was

Behind the scenes the NZ Agriculture Board are lobbying the NZ Government Ministers concerning the product 245t to persude them it was SAFE.

DOW in USA find themselves in Court and comes to the Prof McQueen the NZ Government Toxicology Advisor and asks him to give supporting testimony for their court case. Prof McQueen sort permission from the NZ Government and was granted this. Showing just how intertwined these departments and people where with DOW.

He wrote: "The NZ Department of Health remains firm in its belief that as presently used 245t is not a health hazard"

DOW eventually abandoned the court case, pulled out and ceased manufacture througout USA HOWEVER NZ did not
